Medical InfoSeverely or profoundly hard of hearing adults with “nerve deafness” (sensorineural hearing loss) may be eligible to receive a cochlear implant. Children with profound hearing loss in both ears may also be eligible. People who receive little benefit from hearing aids are considered for cochlear implant candidacy. Worldwide, there are more than 40,000 children and adults who benefit from cochlear implants. |
